Islamabad, April 4 (Inditop.com) Security forces Sunday killed 24 militants in two separate operations in Pakistan’s restive northwest, bringing to 39 the number of terrorists killed in the area in the last two days, the military said.

Twenty-one militants were killed in an operation in the Orakzai Agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), while 15 were injured in the clashes.

In another operation, three militants were killed while trying to enter the Malakand division of the North West Frontier Province under the cover of darkness, Online news agency reported.

Two security personnel were also injured.

Elsewhere, 28 militants surrendered to the security forces in the Bara region of Khyber agency, also in FATA. Among them was a militant commander carrying a bounty of Rs 2.5 million on his head.

Terrorists blew up a school in Bakhmal Shah in FATA’s Mohmand Agency but there was no loss of life.

On Saturday, at least 15 militants were killed and a dozen others sustained serious injuries in a fresh offensive by the security forces in Orakzai.

Four soldiers were also wounded in the fighting, which took place between the towns of Goeen and Hindara when militants attacked a military convoy from their mountain hideouts.

The security forces, backed by helicopter gunships bombarded militants’ hideouts with full force, killing at least 15 militants and injuring several others.

Six militants wounded in the clash were arrested.
