Islamabad, April 5 (Inditop.com) At least 25 people were killed in a powerful blast that tore through a political rally in Pakistan’s restive northwest Monday, a media report said.
The blast took place in Timer Girah sub-district of Lower Dir in the North West Frontier Province, during a political rally taken out by the Awami National Party (ANP), Geo News reported.
The rally was being taken out as a “thanksgiving” for changing the name of the region to Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw. It passed near a police check post and a passport office in the main market area when the blast occurred, the report said.
Over 100 injured were brought to the district hospital at Timer Girah, the medical superintendent at the hospital was quoted as saying.
Security personnel have cordoned off the area and emergency has been declared in all hospitals.
