Islamabad, Nov 24 (Inditop.com) Pakistan Tuesday termed Indian Army chief General Deepak Kapoor’s remarks on the possibility of a limited sub-continental was reflective of New Delhi’s “offensive nuclear doctrine”.

In response to a question on Kapoor’s reported remarks that “a limited war under a nuclear overhang is still very much a reality at least in the Indian sub-continent”, Online news agency quoted an official spokesman as saying they reaffirmed “India’s dangerous and offensive nuclear doctrine”.

Kapoor made the remarks Saturday at a seminar on “Changing Nature of Conflict: Trends and Responses”.

The spokesman said that the international community should take note of Kapoor’s remarks and India’s long-term intentions.

Holding that the major global powers have a particular responsibility in this regard, the spokesman added that they should refrain from taking steps that in any manner negatively affected the strategic balance in South Asia.

The spokesman also said that Pakistan is fully capable of safeguarding its national sovereignty and defending its borders.

“As a responsible country, we will continue promoting peace and stability in South Asia on the basis of equality and mutual respect,” he added.
