Islamabad, Jan 2 (Inditop.com) The toll in a suicide bomb attack in Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province (NWFP) has risen to 75, police said.

The attack took place Friday in Lakki Marwat district of NWFP, Xinhua reported.

The bomber rammed his explosives-laden car into the wall of a volleyball ground, killing 75 people and injuring 60 others.

District police officer Ayub Khan said a volleyball match was in progress when the bomber struck. About 100 people were watching the game.

According to officials about 300 kg of explosives were used in the blast.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

Khan said Taliban militants might be behind the attack as people in the area cooperated with the security forces in the recent operations against the rebels.

People of Shah Hasan Khel village had expelled militants from the area with help from the security forces. The village was earlier considered to be a stronghold of the militants.

The official said a house near the playground collapsed in the blast, leaving several women and children buried under the debris.

Local residents said some of the injured in the blast were rushed to the main hospital in Lakki city, some 25 km from the village, while some others were shifted to Bannu city for treatment.
