Islamabad, Aug 30 (Xinhua) At least 12 policemen were killed and 30 others wounded Sunday in a suicide bomb attack at a police station in northwest Pakistan, TV reports said.
The blast took place at a police station in Mingora city in North West Frontier Province (NWFP), the Express TV reported citing NWFP Information Minister Iftikhar Hussain.
The policemen were conducting anti-terror drill when the bomber forced his way into the police station and detonated the bomb, the report said.
There were around 60 policemen at the station at the time of the attack. The injured were rushed to hospitals.
Officials said the security forces started firing shortly after the blast, forcing people to shut their shops near the police station.
“I see the shopkeepers are pulling their shutters down and people are running,” a Geo TV reporter said.
Meanwhile, the authorities have clamped a curfew in the city.
Officials said this was the third suicide attack on the police station.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has condemned the blast and ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.
