New Delhi, Aug 26 (Inditop.com) Soon civil servants in India will get to study at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for a master’s degree in public policy, varsity authorities said Wednesday.
“IGNOU has reactivated collaboration with Mussoorie-based Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (commonly known as IAS Academy) for a Master’s programme in public policy for civil servants,” a varsity spokesman told Inditop.
The university is planning to launch the Master’s programme by mid-September.
“Necessity of the programme was felt owing to the changing social scenario of the country, to which the civil servants have to be highly focused, particularly in matters relating to public policies of the government. The MA (Public Policy) will shed special light in these areas,” he added.
IGNOU vice-chancellor’s adviser for special projects Pradeep Sahni who is coordinating the programme said that the dissertations from the civil servants need to meet the standard of IGNOU.
“The training in the programme, and standard must respond to the norms of accreditation and assessment of IGNOU for certification,” the varsity official said.
IGNOU is the largest distant learning university in the world with a student base of over 2.5 million in over 30 countries.
