Bangalore, June 23 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani Tuesday landed in Karnataka’s picturesque hill district of Kodagu for rest after a gruelling Lok Sabha election campaign and an acrimonious debate within the party over the drubbing it received in the polls.

The Leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha is accompanied by his wife Kamala and other family members and will stay at the private Orange County resort in Virajpet, a spokesperson of the district administration said on telephone from Madikeri, the district’s main town.

Virajpet is about 30 km from Madikeri, which is about 250 km from Bangalore.

The district is rich in coffee plantations, verdant valleys, ravines, streams and waterfalls. The climate is pleasant through the year. It is situated at 4,000 ft above the sea level.

BJP general secretary and Bangalore South Lok Sabha member H.N. Ananth Kumar also arrived with Advani, the spokesperson said.

Advani flew in to Bangalore from New Delhi and took a chopper to Virajpet.

The BJP came to power in Karnataka for the first time last year, making entry in south India.
