Lucknow, May 5 (IANS) Tens of thousands thronged Hanuman temples here and across Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday on the occasion of ‘Bada Mangal’.
Celebrated with fervour, the day was marked by special prayers, floral decorations and distribution of ‘prasad’.
Like in the past, the state government has declared a public holiday. Prominent Hanuman temples were richly decorated and saw serpentine queues of devotees.
It is believed that Lord Hanuman met Lord Rama for the first time in the Hindu month of ‘Jeth’.
At the Hanuman temple at Aliganj here, 500 kg of flowers were used for decoration, a temple official told IANS.
