New Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj Saturday asked the party to be ‘prepared to form an alternate government’ as the present UPA government was not expected to last its full term.

Addressing party leaders on the second day of its national executive meeting, she said BJP should be ready for a mid-term poll.

‘This government will not last long, and being the principal opposition party, it is our responsibly to be ready for this challenge,’ Sushma Swaraj was quoted as saying by party leader Arun Jaitley.

‘We must learn from Congress’s mistakes and maintain a clean image and unity in the party, keeping allies together,’ she said. ‘This is how we will fulfill our duty as an opposition and also be prepared for an alternate government.’

Senior leader L.K. Advani, meanwhile, said: ‘Government is in a suicidal mode. We don’t need to disturb it.’

The two-day national executive meet of the Bharatiya Janata Party started here Friday.
