Kolkata, May 18 (IANS) Surprises and cheers were in store for two Kolkata students who topped the ICSE and ISC examinations on Monday.
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) declared the class 10 (ICSE) and class 12 (ISC) 2015 results on Monday.
Saugata Chowdhury (99.20 percent) of St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, and Ananya Hardshad Patvardhan and Tesan Tapan Sahu of St. Mary’s ICSE School, Navi Mumbai, were the joint toppers in ICSE.
Arka Chatterjee (99.75 percent) from Vivekanand Mission School, Kolkata, topped ISC.
Chatterjee said he could not believe the results initially.
“I used to study for around 10 hours everyday including the tuition hours. I did not opt for any special coaching except those required for the engineering entrance exams,” he said.
A total of 71,141 students appeared for ISC from 909 schools across the country this year.
A total of 1,59,738 students registered for ICSE from India and abroad, out of which 29,903 were from Bengal.
