Raipur, Aug 1 (IANS) Chhattisgarh’s main opposition Congress Monday sought a probe into the tenure of Rajib Ranjan as chairman of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board (CSEB). Ranjan is currently a legislator of Bihar’s ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U).

‘Ranjan has engineered massive corruption, especially in sale of electricity through open access when he was the chairman of CSEB. Chief Minister Raman Singh, who holds energy portfolio, should recommend a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) probe,’ Congress statement said.

Ranjan was the CSEB chairman for several years before his election as a legislator from his home state Bihar in 2010 assembly polls.

The Congress is reportedly upset over a recent statement by Ranjan here, in which he alleged that several Congress leaders of Chhattisgarh work hand in glove with Raman Singh’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.
