New Delhi, June 25 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday said it would hold protests against the ‘anti people’ fuel hike for the next two days.

A BJP party statement said the demonstrations will be held in the district headquarters on Saturday and Sunday.

The Indian government Thursday announced decontrol of petrol prices, which will lead to a hike of Rs 3.50 per litre. Besides, it also announced increase in prices of diesel, kerosene and cooking gas.

The BJP expectedly demanded a rollback of fuel prices.

‘We demand an immediate rollback of today’s (Friday) decision hiking fuel prices… the government has made a mockery of the people’s trust after winning the elections,’ BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters.

‘The BJP condemns this decision. People are reeling under the cumulative effect of price rise. This government looks to be aiming at finishing the common man,’ Javadekar said.
