New Delhi, May 5 (Inditop) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dismissed Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s statement that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) would win the Lok Sabha polls as “hallucinating” and lacking in political maturity.
“The Congress analysis of the election lacks political maturity. The Congress is hallucinating and making fictional arithmetic,” BJP spokesperson Arun Jaitley told reporters.
Rahul Gandhi, addressing a press conference here Tuesday, expressed confidence that the UPA would form the next government. He also said: “The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is finished and has lost its fight.”
Attacking the Congress, Jaitley said: “The Congress has made three fundamental mistakes – first it lacks political ethics; second they went wrong on electoral capacity; and third they lack confidence.”
Reacting to Rahul Gandhi saying he was confident of the Left’s support for new government formation, Jaitley said: “The Congress has a grab-all mentality and lacks strategy to run a coalition government. They ditched their four-year-long ally – I am talking about the Left parties.”
“Congress thinks that politics is very simple. Beyond the party and a particular family, people don’t matter and they can be easily brainwashed. However, the next fortnight will give a befitting reply to the Congress party,” Jaitley added.
He also said Rahul Gandhi’s press conference was aimed to counter the statements of Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, who said that “heavens will not fall” if the party does not form the next government and it was willing to sit in the opposition.
