New Delhi, May 14 (Inditop) The Congress insisted Thursday that it was confident of forming a new government and added that it was ready to do business with “like-minded, progressive and secular parties”.

Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi also said that the prime minister of a Congress-led coalition government would only be Manmohan Singh.

“The Congress will emerge as the single largest party. We are confident we will form the government,” he told reporters here, adding that his party was capable of providing “a stable government”.

In the first clear indication that the Congress was wooing new allies, he said the party was willing to team up with “like-minded, progressive and secular parties”.

“Manmohan Singh is our only prime ministerial candidate. The rest is all speculation,” he added. “We have full faith in our allies.”

Singhvi dubbed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as the “National Disaster Alliance”.
