New Delhi, Jan 29 (IANS) Congress on Friday rejected demands that its Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy’s resign, saying the matter related to solar scam should be treated as settled after the state high court suspended a lower court’s order to register FIR against him.
“There is no any reason or occasion for Chandy to step down or resign from his post. There was a not a rupee of monetary benefit extended to anybody. There is no criminal case against Chandy. All these are malicious allegation for political benefit,” Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told reporters here.
“There is no question of the resignation of Chandy. The party has full faith in judiciary and will abide by it,” he added.
The Congress leader criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party for its demand for Chandy’s resignation, noting that despite the charges against many of its leaders, none of them had stepped down.
