New Delhi, April 10 (IANS) Delhi Thursday recorded its second highest voter turnout after the 1977 general elections with the polling recorded as over 64 percent, poll officials said.

In January 1977, during the historic elections held after the lifting of then prime minister Indira Gandhi’s authoritarian emergency rule during which civil liberties were suspended, the turnout was recorded as 71.31 percent.
“Delhi has recorded over 64 percent polling. The voting is still on,” the official told IANS.
