New Delhi, Oct 22 (Inditop.com) Senior Congress leader and central minister Vilasrao Deshmukh Thursday refused to give credit to Chief Minister Ashok Chavan for the win in the assembly elections by the Congress-Nationalist Congres Party (NCP) combine.
Chavan “hardly got six months” to govern the state, Deshmukh told NDTV.
The former Maharashtra chief minister, however, said Chavan did well on the foundation that was built during Deshmukh’s four-year tenure as chief minister of the state.
The new Congress legislature party and its national high command would choose the next chief minister, Deshmukh said.
Deshmukh, who was forced to quit the chief minister’s post after the terror attack in Mumbai last year, said his “stand was vindicated by the people of Maharashtra”.
He said people knew that he was not the person responsible for the Mumbai terror attack.
Deshmukh said he was comfortable as a central minister in Delhi and “there is no question of coming back” (to Mumbai).
“Things would have been different, if the party had gone alone (in the assembly polls),” said the union heavy industries minister, when asked about the party’s alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in the state.
