Gurgaon, July 22 (IANS) Eight officials of a construction firm in Gurgaon have been booked for fraud, police said on Wednesday. A company spokesperson, however, said they were not aware of any police case registered against the officials.

The officials of D.S. Constructions, the former concessionaire of the 135.6-km Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, were booked on charges of cheating sub-contractors, including Sunder Constructions, Dhaniram Constructions, Shri Ram Constructions and Shri Balaji Constructions, said Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar.
The firm’s chairman H.S. Narula, managing director M.S. Narula, senior vice president V.K. Malik, Promod Sehgal and four other officials were booked on charges of cheating and breach of trust under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
An FIR was registered at the Udyog Vihar police station on a complaint by Jitender Singh, a resident of Farrukhnagar who was allotted a sub-contract by D.S. Constructions for earthwork in 2009.
However, the firm’s spokesperson Sunil Nayak told IANS: “I am not aware of any FIR registered against senior company officials. I am out of station and will able to say something after returning to Gurgaon.”
“As per the contract, we completed the allotted work in time but D.S. Constructions refused to pay the amount of Rs.1.37 crore,” Jitender Singh said in his complaint.
During police investigation, D.S. Constructions handed over a cheque of Rs.15 lakh and assured to pay the outstanding amount later. In 2014, four cheques were handed to Jitender Singh, but he alleged that the company stopped payment during clearance.
“We will issue notice to all the accused to join the investigation and will further take necessary legal steps,” ACP Rajesh Kumar said.
