Patna, Sep 20 (IANS) A three-member Election Commission team Monday began reviewing preparations for the October-November assembly polls in Bihar, an official said.
The team, on a three-day visit and headed by Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi, arrived here Sunday night. It will oversee progress on photo electoral rolls, deployment of security forces, law and order situation and the Maoist threat in some pockets.
According to official sources, the team will hold a meeting with representatives of all national and regional political parties to take a feedback on poll preparedness. It will also hold discussions with the district magistrates, superintendents of police, state chief secretary and the director general of police to ensure peaceful polling.
The polls are to be held in six phases from Oct 21 to Nov 20.
