New Delhi, Dec 31 (IANS) Home Minister Rajnath Singh Wednesday asked the Border Security Force (BSF) to give “suitable and appropriate” reply to any unprovoked firing by Pakistan on the international border.
Director General of BSF D.K. Pathak, who called on the minister to brief him about ceasefire violations by Pakistan Rangers at the international border in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir, was told to give appropriate reply to any unprovoked firing.
“Pathak informed the minister that one BSF jawan was killed in the unprovoked and premeditated Pakistan firing,” an official release said.
“The BSF retaliated effectively and three Pakistan Rangers were reportedly killed and some others injured,” it said.
“The firing stopped in the evening at the request of Pakistan Rangers for ceasefire by showing the white flag,” it added.
The firing had stopped since then and the situation was totally under control, the release said.
