Chandigarh, Feb 12 (Inditop.com) The Haryana government is considering evening courts on a trial basis to clear the backlog of cases, state government officials said here Friday.
Initially, four evening courts will be set up across the state on trial basis, the officials added. The places will be finalised in consultation with the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The move has been initiated by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who was a practising lawyer earlier, in view of the increasing number of court cases in the state.
“With the awakening of the common people, the number of court cases is increasing day by day leading to increased load of work in courts,” Hooda said.
The Hooda government claims that nearly Rs.110 crore has been spent on upgrading judicial infrastructure in the state in the last five years. Work on projects amounting to Rs.93 crore is going on at various places.
The chief minister has said that modern judicial complexes have already been
constructed at 18 district headquarters and at 25 sub-divisional headquarters. Construction of judicial complexes at 11 sub-divisional headquarters was in progress.
Haryana was the first state in the country to have set up a mobile court at Punhana (Mewat district) in August 2007.
