Ambala (Haryana), July 9 (IANS) Punjab Agriculture Minister Sucha Singh Langah has been booked by the Haryana Police for abetting his personal assistant’s suicide, an official said here Friday.
Langah has been booked along with the manager of a private finance company under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after his (Langah’s) personal assistant, Harbans Lal, committed suicide earlier this week by jumping into an irrigation canal in Haryana.
Lal, 32, who lived in Ambala district, left a suicide note behind in which he blamed the finance company manager and the minister for harassing him with embezzlement charges.
Police got a complaint from Lal’s brother, Ravinder Kumar. The body of the victim was fished out from the canal Thursday.
Kumar told the police that his brother, who was managing Langah’s rice mill, was accused by the minister and the finance company manager of embezzling Rs.20 lakh.
Police officers here said that senior Haryana Police officers will decide on whether to question Langah or seek sanction to arrest him.
