New Delhi, May 4 (IANS) A teenager has been arrested for killing the 12-year-old brother of a girl who spurned his advances, police said on Monday.
Lakhan, 18, was arrested on Sunday from his rented house in west Delhi’s Sagarpur.
He took the victim, identified as Prince, to a secluded place nearby on April 28 on the pretext of a local excursion and strangled him to death.
Prince’s body was found on April 29 morning, police said.
Lakhan had come to Delhi from Uttar Pradesh for studies. He stayed with his sister and brother-in-law who were tenants of the victim’s family.
“As Lakhan had stayed as a tenant at the house of the deceased a few years ago, he was picked up on the basis of suspicion. He later confessed to his crime during interrogation,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad said.
“While living as a tenant at the house of the deceased, he studied with his sister and developed affection for her.”
“Later on, Lakhan shifted to a nearby colony but continued his affection for the victim’s sister. He has appeared in class XII exam this year. The girl had spurned his advances and started avoiding him recently,” the official said.
Due to this Lakhan developed a grudge against her, police said.
