New Delhi, July 16 (Inditop.com) Congress MPs from Uttar Pradesh Thursday met party president Sonia Gandhi and apprised her of the situation in the wake of the arrest of state Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi and the attack on her house, allegedly by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) workers.
“We met Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and told them that there is state sponsored violence in the state,” Congress MP Jagdambika Pal told IANS.
Pal said Joshi is ready to tender “unconditional apology” if it is proved that she said anything offensive about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.
Joshi was arrested after midnight Wednesday in Ghaziabad for allegedly insulting Mayawati. Around the same time, her house in Lucknow came under attack allegedly by BSP supporters, who also set fire to it.
Joshi was Thursday sent to judicial custody for 14 days in Moradabad.
