Nanded (Maharashtra), April 16 (Inditop) Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, accompanied by his wife Ameeta, waited in a queue at a polling station Thursday morning to cast their votes at a polling station here.
The duo smiled and talked to the other voters who had also queued up since 7 a.m. to cast their vote in this holy town of the Sikhs.
The election is important for Chavan since his brother-in-law Bhaskarrao Khatgaonkar is contesting the Lok Sabha poll on a Congress ticket.
The constituency is in the home town of the chief minister, whose father S.B. Chavan was also the state chief minister and a union minister.
Khatgaonkar was trounced in the last election, and is pitted against Bharatiya Janata Party veteran Sambhaji Pawar.
After stepping out of the polling station, both Ashok Chavan and his wife waved to the people and mediapersons assembled, showing the ‘V’ sign that also displayed the voting mark on their fingers.
