Ranchi, June 6 (IANS) The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) Sunday announced it would support the Congress nominee in the Rajya Sabha election scheduled June 17.
‘We will support the Congress nominee in the Rajya Sabha electione. There was some confusion which has been cleared,’ JVM-P chief Babulal Marandi told reporters. The party was peeved after the Congress unilaterally announced its nominee for the poll.
Marandi’s announcement came after Congress general secretary and Jharkhand in-charge K.Keshava Rao reached Ranchi Sunday and met the JVM-P chief along with state Congress chief Pradeep Balmuchu and other leaders.
The JVM-P will not field any candidate and support Congress’ Dheeraj Sahu, who has been re-nominated.
The Congress and the JVM-P have 14 and 11 members respectively in the 81-strong state assembly. Members of the assembly form the electoral college for the Rajya Sabha polls.
