Bhopal, July 19 (IANS) The monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh assembly beginning from July 20 is likely to be a stormy affair with the opposition Congress all set to take up forcefully the Vyapam scam.

On the other hand, the government, led by beleaguered Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is preparing to defend itself in the matter.
The Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board or Vyapam scam rocked the national and state politics once again after a Delhi-based news channel journalist Akshay Singh and a dean of the state medical college died under mysterious circumstances this month.
The assembly session will continue till July 31.
“The party will take up with full force the Vyapam scam and reiterate its demand for Chouhan’s resignation,” said Leader of Opposition Satyadev Katare.
Also, the opposition will take up the DMAT — the exam to fill medical and dental seats in private colleges in the state — scam, rural development, electricity scarcity and farmers’ grievances among various issues in the assembly, Katare said.
He also demanded that the assembly pay its respect to all those associated with Vyapam who had died – including journalist Akshay Singh.
“The Congress should not play politics over deaths. There are other forums where discussions can be held,” said government spokesperson Narottam Mishra.
