Jammu, May 4 (IANS) The Mughal Road which connects Jammu region with the Kashmir Valley was closed on Monday hours after it was opened for traffic on Sunday.

The road which was opened after five months was closed again after landslides hit the Pir Ki Gali area.
“We are opening the roads hit by the landslide to re-open the highway as soon as possible”, said an official of the state roads and buildings department.
Connecting the Jammu region with the valley through Poonch, Rajouri and Shopian districts, the road was originally built by Mughal emperors.
For centuries the road remained closed. It was rebuilt in 2005 as another road link between the landlocked valley and rest of India. During winter, heavy snowfall forces its closure.
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was open for one-way traffic on Monday. The vehicles would be allowed to move towards Srinagar, officials said in Jammu.
