Allahabad, Aug 1 (IANS) Expelled Samajwadi Party leader and now head of his newly formed Lok Manch, Amar Singh, Sunday attacked his one-time political mentor Mulayam Singh Yadav for shedding ‘crocodile tears’ over his alliance with rebel Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kalyan Singh.
Addressing a joint forum of political outfits like the Indian Justice Party and the Peace Party, of which he was recently declared convener, Amar Singh alleged Mulayam was ‘pro-BJP’.
‘Mulayam’s alliance with Kalyan Singh, who was responsible for the demolition of the Babri Masjid, was no surprise as he had earlier also aligned three times with the BJP,’ he alleged.
Referring to Mulayam’s bid to make up for the alliance with Kalyan Singh through his recent public apology to Muslims, he said: ‘The apology was simply a gimmick to win back the confidence of Muslims, whom he had used so far to serve his own political interests.’
‘If Mulayam was a true messiah of Muslims , then why did he not install a Muslim in the chief minister’s chair?’ he asked.
Peace Party chief Ayub and Indian Justice Party president Udit Raj were also present on the occasion.
