New Delhi, April 27 (Inditop) The Election Commission Monday said they have “nothing to proceed” against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.
“The Election Commission has seen the CD. The commission found nothing to proceed,” Deputy Election Commissioner J.P. Prakash told reporters here.
Mahesh Jethmalani, a noted lawyer and the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Mumbai North Central, in a complaint had alleged that the prime minister tried to “bribe the Muslim community” with his comments that the poor among the minorities have the first right over the country’s resources.
The prime minister allegedly made the comments during a press conference in Mumbai April 13.
Meanwhile, Prakash also said that in Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Sikkim, where the assembly elections were announced along with the general elections, the “restrictions for awarding tender, bidding and contracts will continue”.
