Panaji, July 14 (IANS) The Goa Police said Wednesday they will not provide a ‘running commentary’ on the probe into the alleged police-politician-drug mafia nexus in which state home minister Ravi Naik’s son is said to be involved.

Speaking to reporters here, state police chief Bhimsain Bassi said all aspects of the drug nexus were being probed.

When asked if Roy Naik, son of home minister Ravi Naik, would be questioned as part of the investigation, Bassi said: ‘You see… you all don’t understand. I am not obliged to give a running commentary of the investigations being carried out.’

The Goa Police have been accused by the opposition, media and students groups of sabotaging the investigations into the drug nexus case.

They are now demanding the home minister to step down from office, to facilitate an impartial probe against his son.

Roy was dragged into the drug nexus controversy after a popular Israeli newspaper linked him to the Israeli drug mafia operating in Goa.

The probe has resulted in the arrest of seven policemen and two Israeli drug dealers over the last few months.
