Bhubaneswar, April 11 (IANS) The final voting percentage in Thursday’s assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha has been pegged at 75 percent, an Election Commission officer said Friday.
Polling was held Thursday for 10 Lok Sabha and 70 assembly seats. The office of Odisha’s chief electoral officer had Thursday evening put it at 67 percent on the basis of preliminary reports.
“As per the latest information the voter turnout in the first phase of polls in the state was 75 percent,” Chief Electoral Officer Moha Sharma told reporters on the basis of the compilation of the final data.
The district of Nabarangpur recorded the maximum of 82 percent voting, she said.
Polling for the state’s remaining 11 Lok Sabha and 77 assembly seats would be held in the second and final phase April 17.
In the 2009 election, 65.3 percent of the electorate had exercised their franchise.
