New Delhi, Dec 1 (IANS) Both houses of parliament were again adjourned till noon Wednesday with the opposition sticking to its demand for a parliamentary probe into the 2G spectrum allotment of 2008 and ensuring that question hour was not held for the 14th consecutive day.
In the Lok Sabha, proceedings began with Speaker Meira Kumar reading out an obituary message for former union minister Mahabir Prasad who died in Gangaram hospital Nov 29.
Immediately after the one-minute silence, opposition MPs were on their feet, raising slogans of ‘We want JPC’. Within a couple of minutes, the speaker adjourned the house till noon.
Rajya Sabha saw similar scenes, forcing chairman Hamid Ansari to suspend question hour.
This is the 14th successive day of parliament not transacting any significant business and both houses witnessing adjournments barely minutes after meeting.
The question hour was taken up in the Lok Sabha only Nov 9 when the winter session began. In the Rajya Sabha, the crucial question hour was never taken up due to continuing protests.
