New Delhi, Dec 17 (Inditop.com) After a nearly three-hour delay caused when a hydraulic trolley carrying food items hit his aircraft, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday left for Copenhagen for the UN climate summit in another plane.

“The departure timing had to be revised, as the aircraft earlier earmarked for the flight was accidentally damaged while loading operations were in progress,” Air India said in a statement.

“Air India took immediate measures to provide an alternate aircraft for the prime minister’s travel to Copenhagen.”

The flight finally took off at 5.30 p.m from the air force-controlled Technical Area of the Indira Gandhi International Airport. It was earlier scheduled to leave at 2.45 p.m.

Officials in the Prime Minister’s Office said the trolley hit the aircraft while loading food items, leading to minor damage to the official aircraft.

Neither the prime minister nor any passengers were on board at the time of the incident.
