Bhubaneswar, Feb 24 (Inditop.com) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Wednesday expressed his dissatisfaction with the railway budget presented by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee. “The railway budget has totally belied our expectations,” he said.
“Orissa’s rapid industrial and economic growth requires support of extensive rail infrastructure.
“Hence, the state requested railways for a special package, including extension of eastern dedicated freight corridor from Dankuni to Haridaspur. This has not been considered,” Patnaik said in a statement here.
“Demands were placed before the railway ministry for 13 new lines and only one new line has been sanctioned. Only nine new trains have been announced against the state’s demand of 20 trains.
“It is quite frustrating that many of the announcements made in the previous budgets are yet to be implemented,” he said.
