Chennai, April 12 (IANS) A two-and-half-year-old boy, who was rescued from an open bore well he fell into on Sunday morning, later died in a hospital in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district, officials said.

Tamilarasan, son of Kutti, a farmer, was taken to a hospital after he was taken out following a nine-hour-long rescue operation.
At the hospital, the boy did not respond to the treatment and breathed his last, hospital doctors said.
The boy was playing in the farmland when he slipped into the well, sunk a couple of months back.
The parents began searching for their boy when they found he was missing and located him inside the bore well after hearing his cries.
Rescue operations were carried out by digging a pit adjacent to the bore well while oxygen was supplied into the hole.
The boy was stuck at a depth of 20 feet.
The boy’s parents, rescue officials and onlookers heaved a sigh of relief when he was taken out of the bore well and rushed to the nearby government hospital. However, he could not be saved.
