Lucknow, May 7 (IANS) Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh has been assigned the task of widening the base of the party in Uttar Pradesh, a party spokesperson said on Thursday.

Party spokesperson Vaibhav Maheshwari told IANS that this decision was taken by the political affairs committee of the party earier this week.
Singh has also been assigned Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, he added.
Singh is currently the national spokesman of the AAP and is credited with the huge success of the party’s electoral strategy in the Delhi assembly polls.
“We are very happy that Sanjay Singh has been given the charge of UP, he is a native of the state and understands it better than most of us,” Maheshwari added.
The party, he further informed had decided to take up issues bothering the people of the state like corruption, price rise, chaos in sectors like education, health and the spiralling crime.
“After our success in Delhi, people of UP are also looking towards us with great hope and we are committed to coming true to their aspirations,” the national member council further pointed out.
Singh hails from Sultanpur and is a close aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
