New Delhi, May 26 (IANS) The Supreme Court on Tuesday freed the Manali-Rohtang tourist taxi operators from complying with Bharat Stage IV emission standards as it suspended the National Green Tribunal’s order in this respect.

An apex court vacation bench of Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit asked the tourist taxi operators to go to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for the modification of its other May 5 directions.
The court gave petitioner Him Aanchal Tourist Taxi Operators Union a week’s time to approach the NGT which in turn would hold an early hearing.
While permitting the tourist taxi operators to approach the NGT, the court declined to disturb any of the other directions involving levying of environmental compensation charge, and cap on 1,000 cars going to Rohtang from Manali.
