Ghaziabad, March 10 (IANS) Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday that a security audit of the CISF should take place every four months in order to detect the “faults” affecting the force and help in its improvement.

Addressing the 46th Raising Day parade of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, Rajnath Singh said: “The country would economically be prosperous only when the industrial and other strategically important installations are safe for which the CISF has been providing security cover during the last 46 years.”
He said he felt proud to have such an important organization under his ministry adding that the CISF was providing its services in UN peace keeping force.
The home minister on this occasion advised the CISF top brass to market its specialized ‘consultancy services’ which it is already providing to over 111 government organizations.
He told media persons that the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister did not consult him over the release of terrorist Masarat Alam and said the government would not compromise on the security of the country.
“I am happy to know the multi-dimensional role of CISF… It’s great to know that the force has been providing anti-terror consultancy service to Infosys,” he said.
The CISF has so far provided consultancy in security and fire fighting to 111 government, semi-government and private establishments. After the Mumbai terrorist attack in November 2008, the mandate of the CISF was broadened to provide security cover to private establishments.
Presently the CISF has been providing security to five private establishments — Electronic City Bengaluru, Reliance Refinery in Jamnagar and three establishments of Infosys (in Bengaluru, Mysore and Pune)
Established in 1969, the CISF with an initial strength of 3,129 has grown to more than 1.40 lakh personnel over a period of 45 years. The force is providing security cover to 313 units in security wing and 91 units in fire wing.
It is also providing security to over 33 lakh passengers in Delhi Metro, and at airports.
The CISF recruits 3,000-5,000 personnel every year. To meet the growing demand for its services, it plans to recruit 5,000 more personnel in 2015, Singh said.
