Bhopal, May 5 (Inditop) Still groping in the dark in the case of the murder of Gohad Congress legislator Makhanlal Jatav, Madhya Pradesh Police have now summoned seven more people for questioning, police sources said Tuesday.
All the seven have been asked to appear before the investigating officer R.S. Ruhal on different dates. Those summoned include the Congress Lok Sabha candidate Bhagirath Prasad and Bhind district Congress president Harisingh Narvaria.
Meanwhile, the police have also rescheduled the date for interrogation of former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Lal Singh Arya who was earlier asked to appear on Monday. Arya, who had been denying his role in the crime since the beginning, told media persons in Bhind: “I have nothing to do with the case.
“Police have called me only because Jatav’s son has named me in his report. I am not absconding and the police can interrogate me anytime.”
The police are planning to question Bhind District Congress vice-president Tej Narayan Shukla, who was held April 20 on charges of hatching the conspiracy of Jatav’s murder. Police suspect him of involvement. “We are trying to get the story out of him,” said a senior police official.
Shukla was allegedly unhappy with Jatav not giving him “due respect” after being elected MLA. Shukla was arrested on clues obtained from the prime accused Mevaram Sharma alias Pappu Pandit.
Jatav was shot from point blank range on April 13 near Chharetav village in Bhind district when he was returning after canvassing for Bhagirath Prasad, Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Bhind.
