New Delhi, May 23 (Inditop) Pranab Mukherjee returned Saturday as India’s finance minister after 25 years as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh allocated portfolios to six senior colleagues in his new cabinet.

P. Chidambaram will continue as home minister and A.K. Antony as defence minister. S.M. Krishna will be the new foreign minister, a post Mukherjee held in the last government. All four are from the Congress party.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee got the railway ministry while Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar retained his portfolios – agriculture, food and civil supplies and public distribution and consumer affairs.
