Lucknow, Dec 9 (Inditop.com) Congress president Sonia Gandhi will go on a two-day tour of her constituency Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh from Friday to evaluate the developmental schemes there, party officials said here Wednesday.
“During the two-day tour, Sonia-ji would make surprise visits to a number of villages in Rae Bareli to know the reality of central-government sponsored schemes and will also interact with the locals to know their problems,” Subodh Srivastava, spokesperson of the party’s state unit, told reporters here.
“On the second day of her tour, Sonia-ji will participate in party meetings and give necessary directions to party activists. Later in the evening she would return to New Delhi,” he said.
Congress workers in Rae Bareli, some 80 km from Lucknow, observed Gandhi’s birthday Wednesday by distributing sweets and fruits amongst the poor.
Party workers turned up in huge numbers at the Congress office in Rae Bareli to cut a cake on the occasion. They also organised several functions to mark the birthday.
