Shimla, March 17 (IANS) Twenty people have died due to swine flu in Himachal Pradesh, Health Minister Kaul Singh said Tuesday.
“Twenty people lost their lives, and the maximum of seven deaths were reported in Shimla district,” the minister told the assembly.
He said two deaths took place at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) in Shimla on Monday night.
While 13 people died in the IGMCH, seven died in the Rajendra Prasad Medical College at Tanda in Kangra district.
Kaul Singh said out of 302 samples collected, 79 tested positive.
“Fifty patients having symptoms of swine flu have been treated,” he said.
He said the swine flu was now under control in the state.
