Kolkata, Jan 22 (IANS) The Trinamool Congress Saturday alleged that armed cadre of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) attacked a relief camp run by it in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district and injured four people.

‘At least 25 armed CPI-M cadre led by their local legislator stormed a camp set up to shelter villagers who were forced to flee their houses due to CPI-M-sponsored terror at Goaltore Saturday afternoon,’ said Trinamool Congress MP Subhendhu Adhikari.

The CPI-M cadre, he said, attacked the camp when people were busy either eating or serving a meal. Four people, including Trinamool leader Rabi Roy, were injured.

‘The miscreants also ransacked a portion of the camp and spoiled the food grain and relief material stored there. They also stormed into Rabi Roy’s house and damaged a part of it,’ alleged Adhikari.

Despite being informed about the incident, police did not turn up at the spot, he said.

Angered by the incident, the locals put up a road blockade in the area, and protested police inaction.

A senior police officer said a police team was rushed to the spot.
