New Delhi, May 10 (IANS) Two people, including a woman, were arrested here and 600 grams of heroin valued at Rs.60 lakh in the international market seized from them, police said on Sunday.

Ali Sher Shefai, 55, and Shaheen, 28, were arrested in two separate incidents of drug trafficking.
Shefai was held from central Delhi on Thursday while delivering a consignment of 300 grams of heroin to his contact while Shaheen was arrested the same day near a park on Rohtak Road in west Delhi where she had gone to deliver a consignment of the same amount to someone, police said.
“Shefai indulged in the drug trafficking to meet the expenses of his nine-member family while Shaheen joined this business after the arrest of her husband in a drug trafficking case,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.
Shefai, who has worked as a carpenter, told police that Jalis, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun, used to visit Delhi on weekends to deliver him consignments of heroin.
Shaheen’s story was a little different from Shefai’s.
After the arrest of her husband Javed in a drug traffcking case in 2014, she took over the drug business and started procuring heroin from his source Rashid, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly.
