New Delhi, July 1 (IANS) Two teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been rushed to Darjeeling to help in relief and rescue operations in the wake of landslides, a home ministry official said on Wednesday.

Minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju has also left Delhi to oversee the relief and rescue operations there by local authorities and other agencies.
“Two NDRF teams have been sent there. The minister is also reaching there soon to assist the operations there,” he said.
Heavy rainfall since Tuesday triggered landslides across Darjeeling district, leaving scores of people trapped and killed. So far, 28 people have been confirmed killed, many others were still missing, officials said.
