New Delhi, Jan 7 (IANS) A special fast-track court dealing with sexual offence cases Wednesday fixed Jan 9 for commencing arguments on framing of charges against a driver of the Uber taxi company accused of raping a working woman in the capital Dec 5.
The court presided by Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja listed the matter for Jan 9 for beginning arguments on framing of charges.
Advocate Atul Srivastava informed the court that he has been appointed special public prosecutor in the case.
A magistrate court Jan 5 took cognizance of the chargesheet and transferred the case to the sessions court.
Accused taxi driver Shiv Kumar Yadav is in judicial custody till Friday.
The 32-year-old Yadav allegedly raped the woman on the night of Dec 5, when she was heading back home in north Delhi’s Inderlok area in the cab he was driving. The 27-year-old woman works for a finance company in Gurgaon.
The chargesheet was filed Dec 24 — 19 days after the alleged rape.
