New Delhi, April 13 (IANS) Indian novelist Vikram Seth’s new book of poems will hit the market in October, the publishers announced Monday.

To be published by Aleph Book Company, “Summer Requiem” will be Seth’s first stand-alone collection of poetry since “All You Who Sleep Tonight” published back in 1990.
“Summer Requiem traces the immutable shifting of the seasons, the relentless rhythms of a great world that both ‘gifts and harms’,” a statement said.
“Luminous, resonant and profound, these poems trace the dying days of summer, ‘the hour of rust’ when memory is haunted by loss and decay,” it added.
Seth has published five books of poetry, including translations and a book of animal fables in verse and novels like the “The Golden Gate” and “An Equal Music”.
The publisher also added that the sequel of his acclaimed novel “A Suitable Boy” is scheduled for publication in 2017.
The sequel – “A Suitable Girl” has been running into troubled waters as the author was asked to return a $1.7 million advance by his previous publisher, Penguin, in July 2013, for failing to deliver the manuscript on time.
It was then Aleph acquired its publishing rights in December 2013.
