Ranchi, Sep 21 (Inditop.com) Two Durga devotees in Jharkhand have placed numerous pots on their bellies and will remain in this position for nine days sans food and water.

Raktambar Baba has done ‘kalash sthapana’ on his belly at Pahari temple in Ranchi. There are 11 pots on his belly that have been arranged vertically. The 11 pots are filled with water and have been balanced by ropes tied with four bamboos. For nine days he will remain in the same position.

Raktambar has adopted this toughest form of prayer which he claims will bring peace and prosperity to society.

Similarly, Saroj Jha has balanced nine pots on his belly. Jha is a resident of Hinoo colony of Ranchi. He will also not drink water or eat anything for nine days. “It is a blessing of goddess Durga that I am observing this form of prayer. I am not doing this for any personal reason or to achieve anything in my life”.

The nine day festival of Navratra began Sep 19. During this time there are scores of devotees who fast and chant rhymes to appease the goddess Durga.
