New Delhi, Dec 28 (IANS) India’s ace archer Deepika Kumari was humbled in the 33rd Junior National Archery Championships here Tuesday.
Deepika, the Commonwealth Games gold medallist and country’s numero uno archer, finished second and third respectively in the 50 and 60 meters girl’s recurve category.
Seema Verma of Steel Plant Sports Board (SPSB) shot 326 points to emerge on top in the 60 metres ahead of Dipali Boro of Assam (321) and Deepika (319).
In the 50 metres, Deepika, also representing SPSB, fared a touch better as she finished second with 307 points. Seema (319) once again came on top and Dipali (301) third.
The boys event, however, did not see any major upsets at the Yamuna Sports Complex.
Ritul Chatterjee, who was part of Delhi Games’ silver winning team, won the 50 and 70 meters boys’ compound title.
Ritul, representing Andhra Pradesh, shot 348 points in the 70m. Vimlendra Pandye (343) of Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) came second while Ritul’s team mate in the Commonwealth Games Jignas Chittibomo (343) was third.
SPSB’s Pawan Xalxo won the 70m recurve boys’ while Mukesh Tamang of SSCB, the 50m.
